I am selective about the breedings I participate in. A stud dog's influence on a breed is multiplicative — every litter he sires carries his genetics forward into dozens of dogs over a generation. That responsibility shapes how I approach stud service inquiries. I am looking for breeders who health-test thoroughly, who are thoughtful about why they are breeding, and who will raise the resulting litter with the care these dogs deserve.
11
Generations Outcrossed
What I offer in return is access to two dogs with documented lineage, complete health certification, and — in Roman's case — a depth of genetic diversity that is genuinely difficult to find in North American Lagotto Romagnolo lines.
Lineage
American lines. Sire: Mio Amore's Georgio Armani. Strong structure and gait passed reliably to offspring.
11 generations of outcrossed European genetics. Bred by Laura Tanos at Regun Kennel, Italy. Exceptional pedigree diversity.
Health Certification
Full CHIC. LSD clear, BFJE clear, OFA hips, OFA elbows, ACVO eyes.
Full CHIC. LSD clear, BFJE clear, OFA hips, OFA elbows, ACVO eyes.
Primary Contribution
Proven American structure, temperament, and coat quality. The line that produced La Belle Helen's Best of Winners at the AKC National Championship.
Genetic diversity. Lowers COI in every litter. For breeders working to improve genetic health in North American lines, this is the primary value.
Proven
Has sired litters at Northwest Lagotto. Offspring demonstrate consistent temperament, structure, and coat quality.
Two years to import from Italy. The Regun Kennel is one of the most respected Lagotto programmes in Europe.
Best For
Breeders with European genetics who want proven American structure and documented results.
Breeders seeking to reduce inbreeding coefficient and introduce depth of European outcrossing unavailable in North American lines.
Mousse
Mousse
Full CHIC
Proven Sire
At home on the property in Lynden. Mousse's offspring are the dogs our families live with every day.
Lineage
American lines with strong structure and gait. Armani's qualities are visible in Mousse and he passes them reliably to his offspring.
Health
Full CHIC certification. LSD clear, BFJE clear, OFA hips, OFA elbows, ACVO ophthalmology (update in progress).
Proven
Mousse has sired litters at Northwest Lagotto. His offspring demonstrate the temperament, structure, and coat quality that the families who receive them describe consistently.
Mousse represents the established American side of our programme — the line that produced La Belle Helen's Best of Winners at the AKC National Championship and the dogs that our families in Seattle, Portland, and across the country live with every day.
Roman (Regun Noro)

Regun Noro
Italian Import
Six months old in this photo. Bred by Laura Tanos at Regun Kennel, Italy. 11 generations of outcrossed European genetics.
Lineage
Sire: Regun Olmo (UR32348701). Dam: Regun Naga (UR32348801). Bred by Laura Tanos at Regun Kennel, Italy.
Import
It took two years to bring Roman to the United States. The Regun Kennel is one of the most respected Lagotto breeding programmes in Europe, and securing a dog from their line required patience, relationship, and timing.
Health
Full CHIC certification. LSD clear, BFJE clear, OFA hips, OFA elbows, ACVO ophthalmology (update in progress).
Genetics
11 generations of outcrossed European genetics. In a breed as small as the Lagotto Romagnolo, genetic diversity is not a luxury — it is a responsibility. Roman brings a depth of pedigree diversity that is exceptionally difficult to find in North American lines.
Roman is the reason breeders will contact us. His genetic contribution to the North American Lagotto gene pool is his primary value — 11 generations of carefully maintained European outcrossing that reduces the coefficient of inbreeding in every litter he sires. For breeders working to improve genetic health in their programmes, this is what they are looking for.
Terms & Requirements
I do not agree to breedings without a conversation first. The inquiry process exists to ensure that the pairing makes sense for both programmes and for the breed.
Fee
$5,000 — due before breeding. Includes one return service if the first attempt does not result in pregnancy.
Live Puppy Guarantee
If the litter produces fewer than two live puppies, the stud fee is refunded in full. This is not a common guarantee — I offer it because I stand behind the dogs.
Breeding Options
Fresh (on-site in Lynden, WA), chilled shipped semen, or frozen shipped semen — depending on the situation, the female's cycle timing, and geographic logistics. We will discuss what makes sense for your specific breeding.
Health Requirements
The female must have current health testing: LSD clear or carrier (not affected), BFJE clear or carrier (not affected), OFA hips, and a current ophthalmology exam. I will ask to see the results before agreeing to a breeding.
Breeder Screening
I want to understand your programme — your goals, your health testing practices, how you raise your litters, and where your puppies go. This is a conversation, not an application. I am looking for alignment on values, not perfection on paper.
Why This Matters for the Breed
The Lagotto Romagnolo nearly disappeared in the 1970s. The breed was rescued by a small number of dedicated breeders in Italy who understood that genetic diversity was the only path to long-term viability. Every generation since has been a balancing act between preserving breed type and maintaining the genetic breadth that keeps the population healthy.
In North America, the Lagotto gene pool is narrow. Many of the dogs being bred today share common ancestors within three or four generations. The consequence is a rising coefficient of inbreeding in some lines — which increases the probability of expressing recessive health conditions and reduces the overall resilience of the population.
Roman was brought to the United States specifically to address this. His 11 generations of outcrossed European genetics introduce diversity that most North American programmes cannot access without importing a dog themselves. Every litter he sires lowers the inbreeding coefficient of the resulting puppies. That is not a marketing claim — it is arithmetic.
Mousse offers a different but equally important contribution: proven American lines with documented structure, temperament, and reproductive success. For breeders who already have European genetics in their programme and are looking for the qualities that Mousse's line produces, the pairing may be the right one.
The decision of which stud to use is a conversation. I will be honest about what each dog brings and where the strengths and limitations are. The goal is the best possible litter for the breed, not a transaction.
